This special gold-plated official U.S. Presidential Medal is a memorial for Ronald Reagan one of America"s most beloved Presidents. Reagan who served two terms as President from 1981 to 1989 was born in 1911 and died on June 5 2004 at the age of 93. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Medal was issued by the U.S. Mint to honor Reagan"s Presidency and is an official U.S. Government tribute. One side features a portrait of Ronald Reagan with the inscription "RONALD REAGAN" centered along the top and the inscription "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" centered along the lower border. The other side features Half Dome in Yosemite National Park in Reagan"s home state of California. A quotation from the President's Inaugural Address on January 20 1981 reads "LET US RENEW OUR FAITH AND OUR HOPE. WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DREAM HEROIC DREAMS." The inscription "INAUGURATED JANUARY 20 1981" follows the quotation. The inscription "YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK" is centered along the left lower border. This medal is richly layered in 24 Karat Pure Gold by the Morgan Mint. It is 1-5/16 inches in diameter and has a remarkable three-dimensional appearance. It was struck at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. It is protected in a clear capsule to keep it free from dust and fingerprints and it is delivered in a black velvet presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
