In 2004 John Kerry emerged as the Democratic nominee to face President George W. Bush in the 2004 Presidential election on November 2. A four-term Senator from Massachusetts Kerry received a Silver Star Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for service in combat during the Vietnam War. He served as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts before being elected to the Senate. This colorized 2004 U.S. Silver Eagle Dollar commemorates Kerry"s historic Presidential election campaign. The reverse features a donkey the symbol of the Democratic Party. Each coin is a legal tender U.S. Silver Eagle struck by the United States Mint under an Act of Congress then colorized by the Morgan Mint to resemble an old-time campaign button. Silver Eagles are minted in one full ounce of .999 Pure Silver and feature the classic "Walking Liberty" design that first appeared on Silver Half Dollars from 1916 - 1947. Comes in a custom presentation case.
